Things are coming together!
To update everyone on what’s going on:
Set up is at 3pm.
The party starts at 6pm.
The party ends at 12 midnight.
We have until 2am for clean-up.
We are in the Raggio Building, whole first floor + the lawn.
The sprinklers will be turned off.
We have parking.
We have Borders + more vendors and high school anime club booths.
We have sponsorship from Funimation and Right Stuff (WE LOVE YOU GUYS!) and we have a gift-card donation from WalMart to help with misc. supplies we forgot to ask ASUN for.
There will be prizes, but we don’t know what yet, it’s what the sponsors give us (which historically has been some great stuff).
We have the Wolfpack Quidditch team planning an event.
We haven’t paid for Port Of Subs, yet, but it has been ordered.
We haven’t paid for Security, yet, but it has been ordered.
We are working on getting a dance floor.
I am in the process of getting T-shirts (Fuel Screen Printing = Nice people!!).
We are working on purchasing everything (I filled out the forms!), the tricky part is that we get a card for one day only, for one place only, and we can’t have it on the weekend.
We are having a pre-meeting Shadows meeting every Saturday starting at 1pm which bleeds into our normal club meeting at 2pm.

There have been a few inquiries about costumes and cosplay.
To clarify – this year’s theme is Magic and Sorcery. This is more of a limit on the officers than anyone. We’re trying to do events that work with this. We’re likely going to have an extra category in the costume contest for it.
There’s more anime out there with magic than one would first think, but please don’t limit yourself!!
You can cosplay from whatever anime you like.
So.. What is everyone cosplaying as?? _

Please post here (or in the OtakuNet forum) if you want to volunteer for Shadows.
Volunteers get free entry and we will have t-shirts to give free to volunteers.
Please post what size shirt you’d prefer us to buy for you (no guarantees), and what you would like to volunteer for.
You will need to ‘staff’ the event for a minimum of 2 hours for your free entry and t-shirt. Some of us are assuming the position of ‘staff’ for the entire night. You do not have to assume ONLY one role. You can staff the ticket desk, the video rooms, and still dj, for example. Let us know your preferences.
Some Basic categories of volunteers are:
Set up crew
Tear down crew
Video rooms
Main events (Costume contest, etc.)
Cashbox / ticket taking
DJ
Special Events (did you have an even you want to run?)
Emergency Gopher (example: last year we ran out of ice and needed someone to go buy more)
Other… This isn’t a very extensive list.
Let us know what you like so we can start planning.

We had been talking about hosting Shadows this year in JCSU. We had reserved the 3rd floor. We decided that the 4th floor would logically be a better choice. Gopher called to get the reservations changed and was told that JCSU will not be open October 31. To be able to use it on October 31, we would have to pay $35 per hour for a restaffing charge, plus another fee that I forgot.
After much hassle, we managed to get the Raggio building. This is the same location we hosted last year. And like last year, it will not be open October 31, BUT scheduling is going to work with us and have the auto-locks turned off for the hours of the party plus 3 hours before and 2 hours after.
The party schedule is set:
October 31, 6PM, Raggio First Floor.
Set up starts at 3pm, we have until 2am for tear down.

Welcome to Shadows 2008 Blog.
This section should provide you with an idea of what our plans are once we have actual plans (theoretically).
The design is a little rough, but I got it running in an hour, so I’m okay with it for now.
