Man arrested for... MANGA?! · May 28, 07:40 PM

So they say he has obscene manga and he’s facing 15 years in PRISON for having a manga collection any of us would kill for (now that’s something to go to prison for). He is a collector and owns over 1200 titles of all kinds. He ordered some hentai-type manga from japan and the customs guy decides that it’s obscene and calls the Feds. Eh….what? Supposedly there were a few images in these books that looked like child porn, and also there were some bestiality images. What gets me is that he pled guilty to it. I’m ready to cry or scream, or both. Lines on paper is what lands him in jail. This is a line that should not have been crossed. My faith in the first amendment is incredibly shaken. How could a BOOK FILLED WITH IMAGES count as obscenity by the law? It’s ART! It has artistic value, as disgusting as some people might think that it is.

We, as a group, tend to stay away from moral issues with a resounding: “none of our business.” The point of this post is that this case sets a disturbing precedence that could affect any of us and our manga/comics/magazines/dvds/books/novels/etc. which are, likely, a lot more tame.

  4. ….Wowww…you effin kidding me??? That’s just crazy. Bless his heart for taking the time to actually BUY some manga (not that other anime fans don’t lol) but just saying, he bought ALL this stuff and…wow….I guess next time (or maybe not with him) if you wanna do that, buy it in parts…but then again, who knows. Haters fail.
